Around the House – Cardboard

There are a few great things about using cardboard in the structure of a card.

1. It provides stability,

2. It has a very ‘natural’ appeal, and

3. Almost everybody can find some cardboard in their house.

The cardboard I used for this flip flops invitation I tore off the back of a paper pad I had bought at a craft store. It was a 12×12 piece that worked perfectly with my Cricut Expression machine. But think: moving boxes, cereal boxes, instruction booklets; there is a lot of cardboard sitting out there.

This fun summer invitation would be perfect for a summer birthday party, a fun wedding, or even a family barbeque. The flip flop shape SVG will be available for sale in our store starting next week. I ran the cardboard through a paper crimper to give it some texture and also the look of a pair of flip flops. I used the Imaginisce i-Top tool to create the orange brads and a Studio-G stamped sentiment. These invitations are very simple, but lots of fun.

Thanks for reading today, go find some cardboard and see what you can come up with!
