Around the House – Crossword Puzzle

Keeping up with the Father’s Day cards, today I want to share the card that I made for my Mom to give her father. Papa (as we affectionately call him) is a simple man. He loves working with tools, his grandchildren, klondike, and crossword puzzles. This card is really simple and all that you need is a newspaper!

Most newspapers include a crossword puzzle in their daily editions. Sunday crosswords are usually a little bit bigger and actually suit a card much better. I cut this crossword down to fit the card. Cutting along the puzzle lines gives it a little bit of a cleaner look. This card also features machines stitching, hemp, colorful buttons, and a sentiment I printed off my own computer.

Here’s a fun tip; our local thrift store sells loose buttons for a penny each! That’s 100 pennies for $1.00! What a deal!

The red, white and blue color scheme is one of my favorites for masculine themed cards. It is still colorful, but not too feminine, especially if you go with a darker shade of red as shone here. I love how this card turned out and the crossword puzzle background makes for a really easy, but awesome addition for the puzzle-person in your life! Happy Father’s Day Papa!
