Art imitating life.

“Paradoxically though it may seem, it is none the less true that life imitates art far more than art imitates life” – Oscar Wild

Well Oscar that may be true, but in my blog today I would say the reverse is true. When I create my art, my cards and papercrafts, it most definitely imitates my life. As I walk the streets of my daily life I see colors, shapes and patterns that show a direct connection to my work. At the start of summer I had an amazing opportunity to go to Korea with my parents. While there I took pictures of everything that inspired me with the goal of creating Korean inspired cards.

Here is one example of a lantern I saw at a the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Korea.

While visiting in Korea I was able to acquire some unique paper made right there in Korea. We visited a shopping district called Insadong which was filled with handmade products. Combining the paper and the inspiration of this lantern, I made this card.

It’s amazing what inspiration you can find if you allow your art to imitate life, give it a try sometime.
